INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - William Jewell junior linebacker
Adam Callahan has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.
Callahan shined on Saturday's as the Cardinals held a Davenport team who is receiving votes in the national polls scoreless in the second half. One of two defensive team captains, he broke Jewell's NCAA-era single game record with 18 tackles, including 14 solos and one for loss. Additionally, he nabbed one interception and forced two fumbles. This is Callahan's first career Defensive Player of the Week honor and the first for the Cardinals since Antonio Wabanimkee in October 2018.
Jewell is back in action this weekend at home as they host No. 22 ranked UIndy at 1 p.m. at Norris Patterson Field.
