Track & Field Opens 2025 at Coach Richard Alsup Open

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The William Jewell track and field teams opened the 2025 portion of the indoor schedule on Saturday at the Coach Richard Alsup Open, hosted by Northwest Missouri State. The Cardinals had two women, Caroline Mayes and Cydney Banks, hit NCAA provisional marks in at least one event. 

WOMEN'S EVENTS
  • 60 Meters: Mayes paced three Cardinals in the event with an 11th place finish at 7.99. 
  • 60 Meter Hurdles: Mayes remained unbeaten in the 60 hurdles this winter with an 8.80 finals performance, sixth best all-time while her prelim time of 8.68 is second best in program history, as both hit the NCAA provo.
  • 200 Meters: Camryn Thomas finished 41st overall at 28.40 with Kennedy Vernon coming in 49th.
  • 400 Meters: Caprice Robertson was top-10 with a time of 1:01.61. 
  • High Jump: Lillian Bogard finished second overall with leap of 1.50 meters. 
  • Pole Vault: Sophia McCune posted a career best mark of 2.75 meters to place second. 
  • Shot Put: Banks hit a NCAA provo with a mark of 13.82 meters, 5th best all-time.
  • Weight Throw: Banks placed second with a throw of 18.07 meters, second all-time with another NCAA provisional mark while Bobbie Pollard was eight (14.14 meters) and Jada Alfaro hit a career best at 13.65 meters. 
MEN'S EVENTS
  • 60 Meters: Daniel Williams led six Cardinals in the event with a finals time of 7.02 to place third and more up to third on the all-time performers list. 
  • 60 Meter Hurdles: Mason Sullivan finished seventh with a time of 8.85, moving up one spot on the all-timer performers list, now ranked seventh. 
  • 200 Meters: Williams paced three Cardinals in the top-10 with a time of 22.65, making him the ninth best all-time performer. Meanwhile, Connor Hull was sixth (22.68) and Konner Poynter finishing seventh (22.74). 
  • 400 Meters: Hull placed fifth at 49.57 while Poynter was eighth at 50.48, improving his 10th ranked time (performers). 
  • 600 Yards: Sincere Davis placed 12th at 1:19.17.
  • 1000 Meters: Davis was also 12th in the 1000 meters with a time of 2:38.77.
  • Mile: Samson Selleck paced the Cardinals at 4:38.29 to finish 24th overall.
  • Shot Put: Bradan Dickinson moved up one spot on the all-time performers list to seventh with a mark of 14.78 meters to place sixth. Keonne Gladden was also 22nd at 12.05 meters.
  • Weight Throw: Dickinson paced three Cardinals with a 16.05 meter throw to finish fifth while Korbin Dow was 14th at 13.19 meters.

Jewell returns to action on January 31 as they travel to the Washburn Open in Topeka, Kansas.
