LEBANON, Ill. - The William Jewell men's basketball team dropped an 85-63 decision on Thursday evening at McKendree University. The Cardinals fall to 5-8 on the season and 2-3 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell got off to a solid start, holding steady with the Bearcats through the early going, tied a nine at the under 16 timeout. Trailing by eight late in the half, Justice Sutton and Bryce Mitchell jump started a 13-2 run, capped by a Luke Jordan triple to go in front by three. McKendree scored the final seven points of the half to lead 35-31 at the break. 
• McKendree came out of the intermission with a 12-7 run to go in front by a dozen, expanding their advantage to as many as 23 late in the game. Ashton Jermain hit a three with less than 40 seconds to play to bring the score to the final of 85-63. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Sutton scored a team high 17 points while Jordan Jermain added a dozen to go with a team high six rebounds and five assists. 
• Jordan chipped in 11 with five boards, going 3-for-7 from three. 
• The Cardinals shot 39% from the floor but couldn't keep pace with the Bearcats who shot 63% in the second half, including 70% from long range.
