Late Peacock Goal Gives Jewell 3-3 Road Tie

FAYETTE, Iowa - The William Jewell men's soccer team battled to a 3–3 draw with the Upper Iowa Peacocks on the road. The Cardinals are now 2–5–2 overall, with a 1–3–2 GLVC mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • An Upper Iowa goal in the 2' minute gave the Peacocks an early lead.
  • Just 15 seconds later, Zach Nichols equalized for Jewell, assisted by Nolan Piedimonte and Giorgios Eleftherio for the 1-1 tie.
  • Jewell then took control of the half, with Alexis Ibarra scoring in the 16', assisted by Nichols, and Nichols added another in the 21' from a feed by Kaleb Fannin to make it 3–1 heading into halftime.
  • In the second half, Upper Iowa rallied. with goals in the 69' and 85' to force a 3-3 tie.

KEY STATS
  • Umberto DiCarlo made five saves and conceded three goals in 90 minutes.
  • Both teams logged 13 shots with 8 on target apiece.
  • Nichols' two-goal performance was the second of his Jewell career, nearly one year from his first (October 4, 2024 vs. Quincy).
