LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell football team concluded the 2025 season in style on Saturday afternoon with a 49-13 win over Lincoln University of Missouri. The Cardinals, who recognized 21 seniors prior to the kick off, finish 3-8 overall and 1-7 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Jewell wasted no time finding the end zone as
Tyler Kubat connected with
Layne Cavanah for 71 yards to put the Cardinals on top just over 90 seconds in. After the defense forced a punt on the Blue Tigers' opening drive,
Hunter Bailey found a seam and ran for 54 yards to the end zone to make it 14-0 after less than five minutes of action.
A muffed kick off, recovered by
Keagan Hart, again set the Jewell offense up in Lincoln territory and ended in a one yard touchdown pass to
AJ Austene two plays later. The defense made its presence known on the ensuing drive as
Eric Ohmer picked off Will King III and ran for 43 yards down to the Lincoln 15.
Jake Shaffer found
Beau Doughty in the middle of the end zone to make it 28-0 after the first quarter.
After running for his first career score in the first quarter, Bailey opened the second period with his first receiving touchdown, this one for 11 yards, to extend the lead to 35. Before the end of the half, Kubat found
Reece Thomas for 15 yards to make it 42-0 at the intermission.
In the second half,
Nate Barnett got in on the action with a two yard touchdown reception while Lincoln add two scores of their own to bring the score to the final of 49-13.
