MARYVILLE, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team fell 70-44 at Northwest Missouri State on Tuesday night in non-conference action to drop to 0-4 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Northwest Missouri State came out hot, shooting 59% from the floor in the first quarter, en route to building a 25-11 lead after the opening 10 minutes.
• After the hosts built a 23-point lead, the Cardinals settled, getting back-to-back buckets from Maja Komaszynska and Syderah Farmer but trailed by 19 at the intermission. 
• The Bearcats put together another big quarter in the third frame, pulling in front by as many as 34 before Jewell won the fourth period. Taryn Jacobs and Jacee Peters combined for the first seven points of the finale to pull the Cardinals back within 21 but they could get no closer.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Jacobs led the Cardinals with 11 points while Rylee Thompson was tops with eight rebounds. 
• The Cardinals shot 36% from the floor on the day with 26 points in the paint.
