Cardinals Run Away from Drury in Second Half to Win Fourth Consecutive

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The William Jewell men's basketball team scored a season high 91 points to win their fourth straight game after a 91-80 victory over Drury University. The Cardinals move to 10-14 on the season and 7-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Drury came out hot, hitting five of their first six shots and eventually building a 14 point advantage just over eight minutes into the game. Three consecutive three pointers helped the Cardinals rally before a fast break slam by Kyle Scharbrough gave Jewell their first lead with under five to go in the opening half. The teams traded buckets over the final moments of the first period as Drury led by one, 38-37, heading to the locker room.
  • After the Panthers came out hot at the start of the game, the Cardinals returned the favor in the second half. Tied at 46-all, Jewell forced six turnovers over the next seven minutes and went on a 24-6 run to open up a 19-point lead. Drury put on a full court press and cut the advantage down to a dozen but two threes, from Jordan Jermain and Luke Jordan, pushed the advantage back to 18 with under three minutes to play. the Panthers were fouled on a three point attempt, making all three free throws, to bring the score to the final.
