LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's basketball team dropped a 67-60 contest against Lincoln University of Missouri on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day. The Cardinals, who honored five seniors prior to tip off, move to 10-16 on the season and 7-11 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing by six early, the Cardinals got a quick 7-0 spurt, capped by a bucket from Kyle Scharbrough, to take their first lead of the day, 13-12. With Lincoln again leading by seven, a shooting foul combined with technical foul on the Tiger bench, gave Jewell four straight free throws to pull within one but the visitors followed with 9-0 run to go back in front 28-19.
- In the second half, the Cardinals cut the deficit to one possession 10 times but Lincoln responded each time with a basket to keep Jewell at arm's length. Two free throws by Jason Thirdkill, Jr. made it a 63-60 game with under two minutes to play but the Tigers got a layup and converted on two late free shots to walk away with the win.
