SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The William Jewell softball team dropped a pair of games at Drury University on Sunday afternoon by scores of 2-1 and 7-3. The Cardinals even up their record at 22-22 and 9-13 in conference action. 

GAME ONE: Drury 2, Jewell 1
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Drury plated two runs on a sac fly and base hit in the second inning to take the early lead. 
• Down to the wire, the Cardinals loaded the bases for Mikayla Chairez who singled to score Sydney Cure but two ground outs ended the rally.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Chairez and Reagan Bennett each picked up two hits. 
• Avrey Reynolds (6-11) took the hard luck loss, tossing six innings and not allowing an earned run.

GAME TWO: Drury 7, Jewell 3
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Drury got on the board first with three runs on four hits in the third frame. 
• The Cardinals got two back on a base hit off the bat of Amanda Chung to pull within one. 
• DU blasted a two-run home run in each of the next two innings to open up a 7-2 lead. 
• Alexa Almejo singled to center in the seventh to plate Emma Jane Ogle but the Cardinals could get no closer.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Jewell pounded out 12 hits, led by three from Chung, while Chairez, Alemjo, and Ogle each had two. 
• Olivia Wood (4-5) suffered the loss, allowing four earned runs over four innings.

Jewell remains on the road next week with a trip to Illinois Springfield on Saturday.
