ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The William Jewell men's lacrosse team traveled to Illinois for a match up with No. 11 Lewis University on Saturday. The Cardinals fell 23-7 to the nationally ranked Flyers to drop to 2-11 overall and 0-4 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Lewis broke out to a first quarter 8-1 lead as Kade Barvitz scored the Cardinals' lone goal of the period. 
• Trailing by 11 late in the first half, Nathaniel Leroux scored on a feed from Matthew Peterson but the Flyers led 16-2 at the intermission. 
• Carson Wright opened the third quarter with a goal but Lewis outscored the Cardinals 5-1 over the next 12 minutes to hold a commanding 21-4 advantage. 
• Seth Heath, Eric Ramirez, and Brenner Mitts each scored in the final 13 minutes of action for Jewell. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Leroux led the offense with two goals on five shots while Cody Kaiser won eight face offs and picked up five ground balls. 
• Fynn Ziebarth grabbed 13 saves while Peterson had a team high three caused turnovers. 
• Lewis out shot the Cardinals 60-23 and Jewell was 21-of-22 on clear attempts.
