Track & Field Battles the Elements at Lincoln Open

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The William Jewell track and field teams battled the elements on Friday at the Lincoln Open. Despite rainy and windy conditions, the Cardinals complete the meet with four top-marks.
 

WOMEN

  • Shot Put: Cydney Banks won the event with a 13.13 meter toss, more than two meters better than the next competitor.
  • High Jump: Lillian Bogard hit 1.50 meters to finish second overall.
  • Javelin: Aubrey Harris and Mia Ryan were back-to-back in ninth and tenth, respectively, at 25.48 and 25.08 meters.
  • Hammer Throw: Banks led the Cardinals with a 47.52 meter throw to place second while Bobbie Pollard was fifth at 44.10 meters.
  • 100 Meters: Kennedy Vernon finished 12th in the field with a time of 14.06.
  • 100 Meter Hurdles: Caroline Mayes ran a 14.82 to win the field.
  • 400 Meters: Rylee Thompson paced the Cardinals at 1:05.45, followed by Cami Thomas at 1:09.34.
  • 400 Meter Hurdles: Morgan Mayo finished sixth with a time of 1:21.62. 


MEN

  • Shot Put: Bradan Dickinson placed tied for fifth with a toss of 13.74 meters. Korbin Dow and Keonne Gladden tied for 14th, both a throw of 11.33 meters.
  • Discus: Dow led four Cardinals in the event with a third place finish at 39.10 meters.
  • Long Jump: Terran Mitchell put up a jump of 5.59 meters to tie for sixth in the field.
  • Pole Vault: Lukas LePage finished tied for first with a 3.85 meter vault. 
  • Javelin: Adam Hoffman posted a throw of 37.21 meters to place seventh.
  • Hammer Throw: Dickinson finished second in the field with a 50.94 meter hurl to rise to fourth on the all-time performers list. Dow (42.33 meters) and Gladden (39.42 meters) also were among the top-10.
  • 3,000 Meters: Samson Selleck brought home the win with a mark of 9:18.31 to rise to fourth on the all-time performers list.
  • 100 Meters: Chance Pinkston was sixth at 11.75. 
  • 400 Meters: Bryce Mitchell led three Jewell runners in the field at 49.31 to place second. Connor Hull and Kain Sourbeer were fifth and sixth, respectively.
  • 800 Meters: Sincere Davis was second in the event crossing the line at 1:58.32.
  • 400 Meter Hurdles: Konner Poynter finished among the top-3 with a time of 55.83.

UP NEXT

The Cardinals will are back in action on Friday and Saturday at the Emporia State Invite.
