INDIANAPOLIS - William Jewell College junior Amanda Chung has been named to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference First Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday evening. This is the first postseason honor of her career and the 12th First Team honoree for the Cardinals, since joining the GLVC. 

Chung started all 50 games at second base, batting .411 on the season, more than 150 points higher than a year ago. She led the team with 62 hits, 13 doubles, a .556 slugging percentage, and a .492 on base percentage. Additionally, the junior from Thousand Oaks, Calif. boasted 31 runs, 31 RBI, three home runs, 17 walks, while fielding on a .976 clip. She did not let up in GLVC play, hitting .409 with 36 hits, 17 runs, and 16 RBI. Chung had at least two hits in 18 different contests with a season high three on four occasions. 

The league also recognized Drury and UMSL as its GLVC Softball James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award team recipients, as well as 15 student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior, including Jewell's Addie Bell. These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced in May.
