WICHITA, Kan. – The William Jewell men's soccer team lost their non-conference matchup to Newman University on Tuesday evening by a score of 4-1. With the loss, the Cardinals are 0-2-0 on the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• After a quick goal by the Jets, William Jewell had three shots in a two-minute span. Kaleb Fannin began with a shot on goal that was saved in the bottom left hand corner of the goal, followed with a pair of shots from Eliott Labeth.
• Coming out of halftime Newman notched another goal to lead 2-0 in the 57'. After a foul in the box, Cardinal sophomore Caua Ensciemento took the penalty kick for his first career collegiate goal to cut the lead to one.
• The Jets rallied and added two more goals in the second half to separate themselves from the Cardinals for the 4-1 win.

 
KEY STATS

• Umberto DiCarlo spent all 90 minutes in goal, allowing four goals.
• Ensciemento accounted for two of the six shots on goal for the Cardinals with Nolan Piedimonte, Zach Nichols, Fannin and Labeth having the rest.
• It was the first game without a save for the Cardinals since October 8, 2023 versus Truman State.

 

The Cardinals will host their first home game of the season on Friday at 1:00 PM when they host Harding University.
