LIBERTY, Mo – The William Jewell women's soccer team lost on Sunday afternoon 6-2 to the visiting Flyers of Lewis University. Two late goal from the Cardinals was not enough to overcome the fast Flyer start. Cardinals are 0-5-3 on the season and fall to 0-3-2 in the GLVC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Flyers wasted no time, scoring 90 seconds into the game. Jewell trailed 3-0 by the time teams got to halftime.
- Down by five goals with 20 minutes left, Maddy Follmer took a corner kick from the far side that defender Sophia Guiliano connected with her head on to give Jewell their first goal of the game.
- Three minutes later, Lux Sands took a pass from Jessica Baker up the middle and curved a shot in the right side of the goal to make it 5-2. Lewis added a late goal for the final, 6-2 score.
KEY STATS
- Jenna Skeeters got the start in net for the Cardinals, tallying five saves and three goals allowed. Hailey Davin played the entire second half collecting four saves.
- Sands' second half goal is her third of the weekend, and GLVC-leading sixth of the year.
- The header from Guiliano was the first career collegiate goal for the sophomore.

Jewell will take a road trip next weekend, heading to Fayette, Iowa for a Friday match-up against Upper Iowa University. Kickoff is set for 5:00 PM.
