CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - On the campus on Northern Iowa University, 114 collegiate wrestling programs filled the Uni-Dome over the weekend as apart of the National Duals meet. William Jewell finished in 11th place out of the 20-team field the Cardinals were competing against. Over the span of their five duals, Jewell wrestlers battled nine top-10 nationally ranked wrestlers. No. 5 nationally ranked in the 117lb class,
Alex Waitsman went a perfect 5-0 on the weekend with two top-10 wins, including a win over Marjorie Mcdaniel of the No. 1 Iowa Hawkeyes. Former GLVC Wrestler of the Week,
Emily Mendez, also had a win over an Iowa Hawkeye in the 110 weight class to also go a perfect 5-0 while
Desiree Hall went 2-3 with all three losses coming to top-10 ranked opponents.
Jewell went 2-3 in their duals, with a 40-5 loss versus No. 1 Iowa, a 35-12 loss against Colorado Mesa, and a 30-16 loss to King University while taking wins against No. 10 Fort Hays 25-24 and versus Gannon, 28-20.
