Cardinals Win Third Straight with Sweep of Thomas More

HAMMOND, Ind. - The William Jewell volleyball team swept Thomas More University in straight sets on Saturday morning to close out the Midwest Region Crossover. The Cardinals move to 6-15 on the season with the win.

The teams went back-and-forth early as neither could gain more than a two point advantage, until back-to-back kills from Brianna Witthar and Macy Bartlett made it 19-14 in favor of Jewell. Three straight kills from three different Cardinals pushed the advantage to 23-16 but TMU rallied to pull within four late before Kali Adamec's kill finished the set, 25-20.

After Jewell broke out to an 18-13 lead in set two behind six kills from Silvia Fisher, The Saints put together a 7-2 run to knot the score at 20-all. The Cardinals responded, winning five of the final six points to take a two set lead.

Trailing 11-9 in the third set, Jewell got two kills and an ace from Bartlett to lead a 10-3 run to go back in front. After TMU pulled within three, Wylie Singleton's three aces led the Cardinals to a 6-0 run, putting the game away 25-17.
