LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's basketball team earned their 19th win of the season on Saturday, defeating Truman State 92-74, to mark their most wins in a regular season during the NCAA era. The Cardinals improve 19-9 overall and 15-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Truman broke out to an early 8-2 lead, the Cardinals began to hit from long range, as Isaac Patterson, Ashton Jermain, and Adam Fuller combined for eight three pointers to push the Cardinals out to a 19-point lead. The Bulldogs finished the half by outscoring Jewell 9-6 to trail 50-34 at the break.
- To start the second half, Truman came out and turned things up a notch, quickly cutting the lead down to single digits. The teams traded buckets for more than six minutes as the Bulldogs got within seven after four straight free throws from Ja'Vion Byers. Jewell responded with a vengeance as the Cardinals forced two turnovers and went on a 16-2 run, capped by five straight points from Cooper Francis to open up their largest lead of the day at 21, and rolled to their 19th win.

- The Cardinals shot a season high 62% from the floor while going 10-for-20 from three.
- Patterson and Bradley Lightbourne each poured 24 points while Justice Sutton added 14 and Fuller chipped in 11.
- Jewell forced the Bulldogs into 17 turnovers that led to 25 points while also scoring 54 in the paint.
