Cardinals Face Northwest One Day After Lightning Cancelled Game

LIBERTY, Mo. – A day after the William Jewell baseball team went four innings against Northwest Missouri State in a game that was delayed nearly three hours on Tuesday was made up in its entirety on Wednesday. The Cardinals fell 8-2 to move to 4-11 on the season.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jewell allowed six runs in the first two innings to the Bearcats, responding with a run in the fourth inning with a Hayden Post RBI single.
  • In the next inning Mason Jeffers got his second single in as many innings, this time to score Luke Bies making it 6-2 Northwest heading into the sixth inning.
  • The Bearcats tacked on two more runs for good measure taking the 8-2 non-conference win.

KEY STATS
  • Nick Taylor got the start, going one inning allowing two hits. Redshirt sophomore Jack Lemasters came out of the bullpen tossing six solid innings, only allowing one run. His seven strikeouts are a single game season high and is one shy of tying his season total coming into the game.
  • Jeffers had two of the five Cardinal singles, including Josiah Hussey's first Cardinal hit.

Jewell will host Illinois-Springfield Friday at 5 PM to begin GLVC play.
