QUINCY, Ill. - The William Jewell men's lacrosse team suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling 14-13 in overtime at Quincy University to move to 5-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After Quincy took a 3-2 lead in the first quarter, the Cardinals exploded for four goals in the second. Wyatt Novak knotted the score at three followed quickly by a goal from Nathaniel Leroux to give Jewell the lead. Carson Wright and Olivier LaPlante each found the cage to give the Cardinals a 6-4 lead at the half. 
• Jewell continued to roll in the third period, taking an 8-4 lead after a goal from Aaron Maline. The Hawks followed with a 7-3 run to tie things up at 11-all with less than five minutes to go in the game. 
• Scores by Seth Heath and Kade Barvitz put the Cardinals back in front with under two minutes to play, but Quincy rallied for two goals with less than 25 seconds on the clock to force overtime. With just 40 seconds to go in the first overtime period, Quincy's Cooper Karedes found the back of the net for the walk off win. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• LaPlante led the offense with three goals while Leroux had two goals and two assists. 
• Codey Kaiser was 12-of-18 on face offs with six ground balls.
• Isaac Kessler made a career high 18 saves in the loss.
