Cardinals Secure Dominant Senior Day Win over Quincy

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's lacrosse team jumped out to a seven goal lead on Saturday and never looked back, defeating Quincy University 17-7 on Senior Day. The Cardinals finish the year at 7-6 overall to secure the program's first winning season, and 1-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Prior to the game, Jewell recognized the first graduating senior for the men's lacrosse program, Cade Snider

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Olivier LaPlante got things started early with two goals in the first seven minutes before Jewell added four scores by four different players in the span of less than three minutes to open up a 6-0 lead. The Hawks got on the board late in the first quarter, but the Cardinals scored three more, including two man-up opportunities to hold a commanding 10-2 lead at the half. 
  • Carson Wright scored twice in the third period as the Cardinals expanded their advantage to 14-3. Quincy scored four late goals but Nathaniel Leroux added two with another by Bailey Allard to take the 17-7 decision.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • The Cardinals finished with 43 shots and 29 on goal and were 17-of-27 on face offs.
  • Leroux and Mitts finished with a game high seven points as the former had four goals and three assists while Mitts scored once and assisted on six other goals. 
  • Cody Kaiser won eight face offs with Vance Flick adding seven as the former also had a team best six ground balls.
  • Isaac Kessler earned the win in cage with 11 saves.
