LIBERTY, Mo. – The William Jewell women's team closed out their 2026 season with a home loss against McKendree University on Sunday afternoon, 19-13, after getting within two goals going into halftime. The Cardinals end their season with a 1-13 overall record and a 0-7 showing in GLVC action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- McKendree built a 3-0 lead throughout the first quarter before Miranda Menousek found her 12th goal of the season to cut the deficiet to two goals. Freshman Rosie Grebe got in on the action too with less than 60 seconds to go in the quarter to make it 4-2.
- Down 10-3 five minutes into the second quarter Jewell went on a hot streak going into halftime, netting five unanswered goals over the final seven minutes including a pair each from Kuepper Trinkel and Toryn Podschwit to go into the break down 10-8.
- Down seven late in the third Elle Eastwood scored her second goal of the day while Podschwit found the net to pull Jewell back within five. Trinkel scored three goals in the final quarter but was not enough as the Cardinals concluded their season losing, 19-13.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Claire Eastwood stood in goal for the duration of the game, posting eight saves.
- Trinkel's six-goal game was the most single-game goals for the rookie.
- Jewell was out-drawn, 26-4.
