KEARNEY, Neb. - The William Jewell volleyball took on a big challenge on Saturday, facing off with perennial powerhouse and No. 7 ranked Nebraska Kearney. The Cardinals fell 3-0 to drop to 1-10 on the season.
After the Lopers took set one 25-7 on a nearly .600 attack percentage, Jewell responded in the second frame. Trailing 18-9 midway through, the Cardinals got back-to-back kills from
Macy Bartlett and
Cassidy Hurst to get back within striking distance but UNK finished with a 7-2 run to take the frame, 25-14.
The Lopers jumped out to a 15-8 lead in set three but Jewell used an 8-3 run to pull back within four after a service error. UNK won six of the final nine points to take the set 23-18 and the match, 3-0.
