KEARNEY, Neb. - The William Jewell volleyball took on a big challenge on Saturday, facing off with perennial powerhouse and No. 7 ranked Nebraska Kearney. The Cardinals fell 3-0 to drop to 1-10 on the season.
After the Lopers took set one 25-7 on a nearly .600 attack percentage, Jewell responded in the second frame. Trailing 18-9 midway through, the Cardinals got back-to-back kills from
Macy Bartlett and
Cassidy Hurst to get back within striking distance but UNK finished with a 7-2 run to take the frame, 25-14.
The Lopers jumped out to a 15-8 lead in set three but Jewell used an 8-3 run to pull back within four after a service error. UNK won six of the final nine points to take the set 23-18 and the match, 3-0.

Jewell continues their early season road stretch next week but take their shortest trip of the year, heading to crosstown rival Rockhurst for the start of Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
