William Jewell College Athletics

LIBERTY, Mo – After weathering an hour long lightning delay, the William Jewell men's soccer team got their first win of the season over Harding University. The 2-0 victory pushes Jewell to 1-5 on the season while being 0-3 in GLVC action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Setting the tone 93 seconds into the game was Daniel Pirillo with a goal to put Jewell on the board early.
• Pirillo wasn't done, as about 10 minutes later he netted his second goal to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead.
• A lightning delay paused the game for over an hour before the teams played on, with Jewell holding on for thier first victory of the year.

 
KEY STATS

• Aidan Smith stood in goal, collecting two saves.
• Pirillo scored his second and third goals on the year, he is the only Cardinal to find the back of the net after his first goal last game versus Indianapolis.
• The win marks the first as a head coach for Keith Buderus.
