LIBERTY, Mo. – The William Jewell men's soccer team scored three goals in the opening 17 minutes and held on while playing a man down for most of the second half, beating Truman State 4-1 Wednesday night. The win is the Cardinals' first in GLVC play this season, moving Jewell to 2-6-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jewell got on the board in the 8', when Owen Pereira finished off a Kaleb Fannin assist for a 1-0 lead.
- Daniel Pirillo then took over, scoring in the 12' and again in the 16' to put the Cardinals up 3-0 at the break.
- Jewell went down to 10 men early in the second half, but the Cardinals kept pushing, and Elias Munoz added a goal in the 69' to make it 4-0. Truman State scored a late goal in the 88', but it wasn't enough as Jewell closed out the 4-1 win.
