Tom Eisenhauer was named the Director of Athletics on August 1, 2018 after serving as the interim for nearly 15 months. In his role, he assists the President in setting and implementing a vision for Cardinal Athletics that is focused on three things: appreciation of the Jewell Mission and Philosophy; a positive and balanced student-athlete experience; and winning as a key element of student satisfaction and alumni engagement.

Jewell Highlights
• Has overseen the addition of six varsity sports since 2019, raising the Department's total to 24
• Has led the drive for multiple facility renovations and additions, including the addition of a wrestling room (2021), the designation of a new home golf course (2019), new turf & lighting for all four fields of the Spratt Sports Complex (2022) and the upcoming construction of The Link
• Oversaw the creation of a pivotal agreement making Liberty Hospital the official sports medicine provider of Jewell Athletics, marking drastic improvement in student-athlete care and sports medicine staffing
• Has overseen the hiring/promotion of 18 head coaches and administrators since 2017
• Spent nine years as head coach of the track & field and cross country programs 
• Mentored four All-Americans, 17 national qualifiers and 36 individual conference champions with more than 60 school records broken 
• Had 10 student-athletes earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors and nine teams were recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic team
• Was named the 2011 Heart of America Conference Women’s Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year
• Served on the USTFCCCA NCAA-II Track & Field Executive Committee


Prior to Jewell
• Served as a graduate assistant at Northwest Missouri State University working under Bob Lade, Rich Alsup and Scott Lorek


Playing Career2
• Was a four-year letterwinner in track & field at William Jewell 2002-2006
• Was a national qualifier and earned All-Conference honors in the 400-meter hurdles, as well as earning All-HAAC honors in the 600-meter and 4x400 relay
• Held the school record in the 600-meter and 4x400 relay upon graduation
• Was a four-time recipient of the Cardinal Scholar-Athlete
• Was a three-sport standout in football, basketball, and track & field in high school where he earned second-place in the 300-meter hurdles at the 2002 Colorado State Championships, as well as three top-three finishing relays


Personal
• A native of Manitou Springs, Colorado
• Earned his bachelor's degree in history from William Jewell in 2006 followed by a master's in health and physical education from Northwest Missouri State in 2009
• Married to another former Cardinal student-athlete, Ashley (Hughes, '08) and is the proud father of three children, Caleb, Madeleine and Ruxton
