Darren Shaffer enters his first year on the Cardinal football staff in 2024.

• Assisted with a defense that topped the GLVC with 11 forced fumbles and third with 21 sacks
• Spent the last 24 years as the Activities Director and football coordinator at Smithville High School with Jason Ambroson
• Also spent four years as the head coach at Wellington Napleon High School, going 28-14 with a conference and district championship
• Played at Smithville High School, earning All-Conference and All-Northland honors as a wide receiver and defensive back
• A native of Smithville, Missouri
• Earned his undergraduate degree in physical education from Central Missouri and a master's in athletic administration from Northwest Missouri State
• Also holds a education specialist degree in secondary administration
• Married to wife Peggy and has two sons Jake and Cole
