Louis Cortes enters his fourth season as the defensive backs coach and defensive coordinator for the Cardinals in 2023.Â

• Mentored seven players to All-GLVC honors in first three seasonsÂ
• Tutored Myles Nash who earned First Team All-GLVC honors as a true freshman after grabbing three interceptions during the abbreviated spring season of 2021
• Has coordinated the recruitment and signing of more than 80 student-athletes during two years as the recruiting coordinatorÂ

• Spent two seasons at the University of Northern Colorado coaching outside linebackers
• Helped the Bears post more tackles, interceptions and tackles-for-loss than the previous season while also assisting with special teams
• Served as a defensive assistant at Colorado School of Mines where he coached corners
• Was the video and scout team coordinator and assisted with special teams at MinesÂ

• Played collegiately at Northwestern College            Â

• Earned bachelor's degree in economics from Northwestern College
• Also holds a master's in sports coaching from Northern Colorado
• Brother of Cardinal linebackers coach Nicholas Cortes
• Married to wife Amelia and welcomed a son in August 2023
