Kyley Bachand (pronounced BUH-shawnd) was named the eighth head women's basketball coach in program history on June 9, 2023 and enters her second season at the helm this fall.

Jewell Highlights
• Led the Cardinals a two-win increase in her first season with GLVC wins over UMSL, Southwest Baptist, Upper Iowa, and Missouri s&T
• The Cardinals were the 2024 NCAA-II statistical champion in turnovers per game, committing just 10.8, an improvement of five from the previous season
• Has mentored one All-GLVC performer in Ayden Shannon who finished fourth in the league in scoring (17 ppg) in 2023-2024


Prior to Jewell 
• 2017 WBCA Thirty Under 30 Award Recipient 
• Spent two seasons at Colorado State University, going 41-24 with an appearance in the WNIT
• Mentored two Mountain West Conference Newcomers of the Year, 2023 Player of the Year and first All-American in two decades
• Part of the best two-year turnaround in the NCAA as an assistant coach at Eastern Illinois, going from three wins in 2018 to 19 in 2020
• Served as an assistant coach at Sioux Falls in 2016-17 helping the Cougars go 22-8  


Playing Career2
• Played two seasons at Illinois, averaging 11 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists over a team high 36.6 minutes per game
• Ranked among the best in Division I in three-point shooting
• 2015 recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award
• Began collegiate career at Missouri earning All-Big 12 Freshman Team honors 
• Holds records for career assists and single season points and assists at Lewis Central High School (IA)


Personal
• A native of Council Bluffs, Iowa
• Earned a bachelor's degree in communication from Illinois in 2015 followed by a master's in recreation, sport and tourism the following year
• Married to husband Seth and has two daughters
