Maddie Nelson returns to the Cardinals for her first season as a coach in 2020-2021.

• Started all 110 games played from 2013-2017 and became the only player in program history to record 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 300 assists.
• Graduated as Jewell's 12th all-time leading scorer with 1,250 total points. Also ranks eighth all-time with 630 rebounds and sixth with 343 assists.
• Scored in double figures 67 times, including seven double-doubles and one triple-double
• Earned two All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selection, including first team honors in 2017
• Was a recipient of the GLVC Council of Presidents' Academic Excellence Award
• Holds NCAA-era single season records for field goal attempts, rebounds (twice), rebounding average, defensive rebounds, assists and minutes average which she set as a senior, playing in more than 38 minutes per night which led all of NCAA-II
• Holds NCAA-era career records for points, field goals made, field goal attempts, rebounds, defensive rebounds, offensive rebounds, games played, starts, minutes and minutes average
• Her 1,250 points made her the first men's or women's player to join the 1000-point club in the NCAA era
• Was a two-time first team All-State selection at Smithville High School
• Also earned four All-Conference and two All-District and All-Region selections as a prep player.

• A native of Smithville, Mo., Nelson earned her degree in elementary education in 2017.
