Malia Shimabukuro joined the Cardinal staff in 2023 prior to the inaugural women's lacrosse season.

• Has helped mentor five All-GLVC players
• The 2025 team led the GLVC with 13.11 caused turnovers per game and 236 total
• Helped the program to a six game improvement from season one to two including two conference wins
• Was the head women's lacrosse coach at Midland University from 2019-2022
• Mentored five All-Conference players and three KCAC Scholar-Athletes
• Her team was the recipients of the 2020 KCAC Team Character Award and 2021 IWLCA Community Service Award and IWLCA President's Cup Award from the Racial Equity Task Force
• Also served on the Residence Life staff and Assistant Ice Hockey coach at Midland
• Named the 2018 WWCHL Coach of the Year and led the Warriors to a WWCHL Championship in hockey

• Was a captain on the women's lacrosse team at Midland University where she appeared in 24 games, scoring 14 goals with four assists over two seasons
• Was also a member of the inaugural women's ice hockey team, serving as a captain
• Selected as a NAIA Scholar Athlete in lacrosse
• Named CoSIDA Academic All-America

• Born in Kansas City but grew up in Honolulu, Hawai'i
• Earned an associates degree in liberal arts from Kapi'olani Community College
• Also holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education and coaching and a master's in learning and talent development, both from Midland University
