Troy Green (Lawson, Mo.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week. Green helped the Cardinals to a pair of league wins by posting six of his club's eight goals on the week.
In William Jewell's 4-1 win over visiting Missouri-St. Louis on Friday night, Green scored the Cardinals' first two goals of the match. He scored his first goal of the contest in the ninth minute on an assist from
Nathan Seider. UMSL knotted the score at 1-1 just seconds later, but Green put home the game-winning goal in the 57th minute on an assist from
Cole Prather.
He returned on Sunday to net all four of the Cardinals' goals in a 4-1 decision over visiting Maryville. Green scored twice in the first half and put home the eventual game-winner in the 11th minute. He added two goals in the second half to help William Jewell build a 4-0 cushion.
On the week, Green accumulated 12 points on six goals and he had both game-winning goals.
He leads the Cardinals and ranks second in the league in goals scored with 10. Green is tied for first in goals scored per game (0.91) and tied for second in points per game (2.00) this season.
In their first season in the GLVC, the Cardinals (7-5) have moved to 6-4 in the league standings and are tied for fifth place. They will return to action at Truman State in a non-conference match on Tuesday.
