The William Jewell softball team has split a pair of games in Weatherford, Okla., on Friday. Jewell fell 4-3 to Southwestern Oklahoma State but then rebounded for a 12-5 win over Northwest Missouri State University.
Against Southwestern Oklahoma the Cardinals jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to a three-run homer by junior
Lexy Rozmus.
The Cards gave up single runs in the bottom of the first, second, fifth and seventh innings respectively.
Rozmus also had a double in the contest finish two for three.
Rachel Hayden (0-1) suffered the loss for Jewell who evened their record to 1-1 on the season.
In the nightcap Northwest Missouri State got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning scoring three runs on three hits. After scoring one in the fourth the Cardinals' bats came to life in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Jewell scored three in the fifth as
Rachel Hayden hit a two-out two-run double. In the sixth the Cards put the game out of reach with four more runs and then scored another four in the seventh as senior
Amanda Storm hit a two-run home run.

Maria Buckingham(2-0) earned the win going six innings with 10 strikeouts. Hayden finished two for four with a homer, a double and three RBI's. First year player
Faith Song went two for five with 2 doubles and two RBI's.
The Cardinals, 2-1 will continue play in Weatherford, Okla., on Saturday as they take on the same two teams. They will face Southwestern Oklahoma State at 11:00 a.m. followed another contest with Northwest Missouri State at 3:00 p.m.
