Softball Sweeps Games at CBC Meltdown on Saturday

The William Jewell College women's softball team won two games in the Central Baptist College Meltdown tournament in Conway, Ark., on Saturday. 

In game one the Cardinals shutout Avila University 6-0.  Senior Amanda Storm took home the win by only allowing two infield hits with four strikeouts.   First basemen Ashlee Nation went two for three with a solo homerun and left fielder Rachel Hayden was also two for three with a solo shot.  Center Fielder Rachel Potvin went two for two with two runs scored and a stolen base. 

In game two the Cards dominated Southwestern Christian University 8-0 in 5 innings. Senior Maria Buckingham notched the win by pitching a one  hitter with 10 strikeouts.   Catcher Ashlee Nation went two for two with a double and two runs scored.  Designated Hitter Megan Kappler went three for three with two runs scored and shortstop Faith Song was five for seven on the day with two doubles and 6 RBI's. 

The sweep improves the Cardinals record to 5-2 on the season.
