The William Jewell College softball team fell in a doubleheader sweep to Drury University on Saturday afternoon in Springfield, Mo.
The Lady Panthers took the first game, 5-4 and shut out the Cardinals 7-0 in game two.
In game one, the Cardinals got out to a 4-0 lead before Drury plated home two in the bottom of the third and tied it up with two more runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Lady Panthers scored the go ahead run in the bottom of the sixth.
Taylor Brown finished the game two for three with two RBI's and a run scored.
Emily Cline finished two for three with an RBI and a stolen base for Jewell.
Maria Buckingham (5-4) suffered the loss in relief of
Amanda Storm. Buckingham worked three innings giving up three hits and one run while striking out three and walking one.
In game two, Drury took a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth and were able to break the game open scoring 5 runs in that inning.
Buckingham (5-5) took the loss tossing three and 2/3 innings giving up 5 hits and 2 runs while striking out two and walking one.
The Cardinals (10-11, 6-10 GLVC) return to the field tomorrow when they face Missouri S&T at 12:00 p.m. in Rolla, Mo.
