The William Jewell College softball team swept Missouri S&T in a double header in Rolla, Mo., on Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals defeated The Lady Miners 5-2 and 2-0
The Cardinals pounded out 17 hits in the doubleheader to get the sweep.
In the opener
Maria Buckingham, went the distance on the mound to get the victory, allowing five hits and two runs. She recorded five strike outs en route to sixth victory of the year against five losses.
Jewell scored one in the top of the first then exploded for four runs in the top of the fourth.
Faith Song led the Cardinal offensive attack going two for two with a walk, two runs scored and three RBI's.
In the second game Jewell scored single runs in the top of the second and top of the sixth and that would be all they would need thanks to the complete game shutout from
Amanda Storm.
Emily Cline led the Cardinals hitting attack in the second game going two for three with an RBI. Ashley Nation went one for four with her one hit being a solo homer in the second inning.
Storm collected her third win of the year on the hill for Jewell, going the distance, striking out five and only allowing three hits.
The Cardinals, 12-11 on the year and 7-7 in GLVC play, will take on Truman State University on Tuesday, March 27 at 2:00 p.m. in Kirksville, Mo.
