The William Jewell College softball team was swept by Truman State University in a non-conference twinbill Tuesday afternoon in Kirksville, Mo. Truman took game one by a score of 4-2 and bested the Cards 7-2 in game two.
In game one Jewell was able to manufacture single runs in the first and third innings respectively and took a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Lady Bulldogs then exploded for four runs in the inning and held the Cardinals at bay the rest of the contest.

Maria Buckingham (6-6) had 8 strikeouts and two walks in the game. She allowed four runs – three earned – on six hits.
Rachel Hayden finished two for three with a run scored while
Amanda Storm went one for two with two walks, a run scored and a stolen base.
Game two saw the Cardinals take another 2-0 lead after plating home two in the top of the third.
Truman answered back in the bottom half of the inning, scoring four and then added one run in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away.
Rachel Hayden (3-4) shouldered the loss with seven runs-five earned-on 9 hits through six innings striking out three and walking three.

Lexy Rozmus each finished with a hit and a run scored for Jewell.
The Cardinals, 12-13 on the season, will resume Great Lakes Valley Conference Play on Saturday, March 31 against Quincy University at 12:00 p.m. in Quincy, Ill.
