The William Jewell College softball team split a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader against University of Missouri-St. Louis Sunday afternoon in St. Louis, Mo.  Jewell posted a 4-1 win in game one, but fell 11-3 in game two and now stand at 21-18 on the year 15-12 in GLVC play. 

In game one, the Cardinals jumped ahead to a 2-0 lead after half an inning. Lexy Rozmus capped off the inning with an RBI double.  Jewell then scored single runs in the second and third innings respectively highlighted by a solo homerun by Taylor Brown in the third.  UMSL scored their only run of the game in the bottom half of the third. 

In the pitcher's circle, Maria Buckingham (13-8) earned the win as she struck out seven batters in seven innings of
action while only allowing two hits.  

In game two, Jewell jumped out to a 3-0 lead with two runs in the first and one in the second.  Rachel Hayden and #Lexy
Rozmus# each hit an RBI double in the first and the Cards scored their single run in the second thanks to a bases loaded walk. 

UMSL then took control of the game scoring one in the second, three in the third and exploding for seven in the home half of the fourth. 

Amanda Storm (5-5) took the loss for the Cardinals lasting three and two thirds innings allowing ten hits, 11 runs (8 earned) while striking out four. 

Hayden finished the game with two RBI's for the Cards.
