Truman State University got out to a 35-0 halftime lead in Great Lakes Valley Conference football Saturday at Jewell and never looked back on the way to a 45-7 win.

The Cardinals, held without a first down in the first quarter and a half and without injured starting quarterback Sean Shelton after the second drive of the game, had few plays on offense during the first half, but managed to play even with the Bulldogs in the second half.

Jewell (1-5, 0-2 in GLVC), struggling to defend the run in previous games, held Truman to 150 yards rushing.  The passing defense, though, allowed 258 yards and three touchdowns.

Offensively, the Cardinals managed 123 yards in offense, with a 64 yards in the air and 59 yards on the ground.  Truman also blocked two Cardinal punts, one resulting in a touchdown for the Bulldogs (4-2, 20-0).

The Cardinals will play the University of Indianapolis next Saturday at Greene Stadium at 1:00.
