The William Jewell softball team was swept in a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader by University of Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday in Liberty, Mo. The Tritons defeated the Cardinals 7-2 in game one and 5-4 in game two.
In game one the Tritons used a dominating pitching performance from Hannah Perryman who pitched a complete game four hitter while striking out 17 Cardinals.
In game two, the Cards jumped out to a 3-0 lead before allowing five runs in the top of the fifth.
Rachel Hayden (4-3) took the loss in relief of
Faith Song. Song pitched four innings allowing three hits while striking out six.
Hayden collected three hits with an RBI and
Brittany Madsen had a hit and two RBI's.
The Cardinals, 8-11 overall and 3-4 in GLVC play will host Rockhurst University on April 2 on the Jewell campus in Liberty, Mo.
