The William Jewell Cardinal softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader from Newman University today in Liberty, Mo. Jewell took the first game 8-2 and was victorious 8-1 in game two.
The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead for pitcher Corrine Frei and coasted to the game one win.
Lexy Rozmus went 2-4 with two RBI's and a run scored.
Rachel Potvin had three hits and four runs scored while
Annali Dolman was one for two with two RBI's.
Frei (6-4) tossed a complete game three hitter giving up two runs (zero earned) while striking out six.
Game two saw the Cardinals jump out to a 3-1 lead after two innings of play. Jewell pitcher
Rachel Hayden (8-4) would settle in and hold the visitors at bay. She tossed six innings giving up four hits, and one run while striking out six.
Megan Risetter was 1-3 with three RBI's and two runs scored. Potvin set a school record with seven stolen bases on the day.
With the sweep, Jewell is now 22-13 overall on the season. Next action for the Cardinal softball team comes on Saturday, April 20 when they travel to Drury University. Game time is set for noon in Springfield, Mo.
