William Jewell softball won their fourth game in a row with a non-conference doubleheader sweep of Southwest Baptist University on Wednesday, moving them to 12-11 on the season.
The Cardinals won the first game 10-5 on 13 his, overcoming a 2-0 deficit after the first SBU at bat with four runs in the bottom of the first inning and four more runs in the bottom of the second inning.
Kelsey Teneycke went 3-4 with five RBI in the game, while
Faith Song was 2-3 with three RBI,
Rachel Hayden went 3-4 with an RBI and
Morgan Olson was 2-2 with an RBI.
Corinne Frei (4-3) went six innings for the win. She allowed five runs on seven hits, walking two and striking out one. Song finished the game in the circle with a 1-2-3 seventh inning.
Jewell won the second game 7-1, highlighted by a three-run home run by
Annali Dolman and a two-run home run by Hayden.
Aerin Creamer went 2-3 in the game with a double and two runs driven in, and
Rachel Potvin wnet 2-3 and had two stolen bases. Jewell had nine hits in the game.
In the circle, Song picked up the complete game win in game two and is 4-3 on the season. She gave up five hits and one run, walking one. Jewell turned a double play in the game and had no errors.
The Cardinals have won six of their past eight games, and host GLVC rivals Illinois-Springfield for a Saturday doubleheader, Quincy University for a Sunday doubleheader, and Missouri Science and Technology on Tuesday to complete a 14 game home stand.
