The William Jewell College volleyball team fell 3-0 to Wayne State University in their second match of the day at the seventh annual Mizuno GLVC/GLIAC Crossover tournament on Friday.

The Cards fell by set scores of 27-25, 25-15, and 26-24.  

Jewell had a set point in the first set but could not capitalize and Wayne State went on a 4-1 run to close out the set.  Wayne State controlled the second set only to see the Cards come back and fight for the third and deciding set.  The Cards fought off one match point to make it 24-24 before Wayne State won the final two points of the match. 

Jewell goes to 3-16 on the year while Wayne State improves to 6-11. 

The Cards were led by Kelsey Wagner with 9 kills and a team high 14 digs.  Amy Lindhorst again led the Cards in assists with 13 while Megan Hellwege had 11 assists and 12 digs.    

Jewell will continue play in the Crossover event as they face Tiffin University tomorrow with match time set for 1 p.m.
