William Jewell College football continued their roll through the Great Lakes Valley Conference football season, winning on the road at Missouri Science & Technology Saturday 34-27 to move to 4-0 in conference play.
The Cardinals had a 27-13 lead early in the third quarter after a Trey Mask 66 yard gallop for a touchdown, but the Miners (3-4, 2-2 GLVC) rallied to tie the game with 6:24 left.
Following a
Thomas Clanton interception,
Nick West threw a 20 yard pass for the winning score to
Staton Rebeck, as the Cardinals went back on top with 2:59 left. Â It was the second time in the game the two had combined for a score.
Jewell's defense then shut down the Miners last drive, forcing a turnover on downs with 36 seconds remaining.
The Cardinals turned the ball over four times in the game to S&T's three turnovers, but Jewell also had six sacks in the game. Â Lee Nebbit returned a fumble 30 yards for a Cardinal score, and
Brandon Womack had two field goals in the game, the second from 46 yards.
Jewell (4-3, 4-0) will host Quincy University next Saturday at Greene Stadium in Liberty in a 1:00 p.m. matchup.
