The William Jewell College volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to tie the match, but was unable to complete the comeback in a 3-2 loss against Drury on Friday night at the Mabee Center.
The Cards slip to 3-24 overall and 1-16 in the GLVC while the Panthers improve to 16-10 and 7-10 in GLVC play.
Drury won by set scores of 25-16, 16-25, 25-19, 19-25 and 15-12.
Jewell was paced by
Kaylee Marquardt and
Libby Ording who had 11 kills each and
Amy Lindhorst triggered the offense with a game high 37 assists.
The Cards racked up 98 digs as a team on the match compared to 91 from Drury.
Jewell found themselves down 2-1 in the fourth set and went on a 7-1 run to close out the set 25-19 to force a fifth.
In the deciding set Drury built a 10-5 lead only to see Jewell cut the lead to two at 14-12 before the Panthers put the match away.
William Jewell will close out the regular season on Saturday as they host Missouri S&T on Senior Day. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m.
