The William Jewell College Cardinal Softball team is scheduled to open the 2014 season this weekend with six games in Betonville, Arkansas.  
 
They will begin their campaign with a double header against the University of Nebraska at Kearney (9:30 a.m.) and the University of Arkansas at Monticello (11:30 AM) on Friday morning.  On Saturday, they face fellow in-state foes, the University of Central Missouri (9:30 a.m.) and Missouri Western State University (3:30 p.m.).  They close out the weekend on Sunday with a pair of games against Missouri Southern State University (11:30 a.m.) and Pittsburg State University (1:30 p.m.).   
 
The Cardinals look to carry momentum from the 2013 season into this year.   Last year marked the most successful season in program history with a 32-15 record. The Cardinals welcome all but one starter back from the previous season.  Highlighting the roster includes 2013 Great Lakes Valley Conference performers Ashley Barrett, Rachel Hayden, Brittany Madsen, Rachel Potvin, and Faith Song.   
 
The Cardinal Softball team is picked to finish Second in the GLVC West Division.
