Jewell Head Athletic Trainer
Jessica DeWitt has been featured in an audio interview as part of National Athletic Training Month.
The interview can be heard here.
DeWitt was asked to be interviewed by an athletic training student at Tusculum College in Tennessee. As a part of National Athletic Training Month, their athletic training education program conducts a daily podcast throughout the month of March interviewing certified athletic trainers from across the country. Chris Lenker, the head athletic trainer at Tusculum, was a coworker of DeWitt's during her internship at Loras College All Sports Camps in 2001. Â
During the interview, DeWitt discusses how her interest in athletic training developed, her biggest challenges in moving from assistant trainer to head athletic trainer, the rewards, challenges and differences between being a high school trainer and being a college athletic trainer, and talks about who has been the biggest influence on her career.Â
Prior to Jewell, DeWitt was the assistant trainer at Jewell after working as the athletic trainer for Eudora High School in Eudora, Kan for five years. Â She has also worked as an assistant athletic trainer for the University of Saint Mary for one year. DeWitt earned her bachelor's degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Athletic Training in 2002 from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan.Â
