Box Score 2 The William Jewell Cardinals swept the Miners of Missouri S&T on Saturday in a Great Lakes Valley Confernce doubleheader on Saturday. With the sweep, the Cardinals have unofficially clinched a spot in the GLVC Conference Tournament.
In game one the Cardinals only needed one run for the win. Bases were loaded with
Kelsey Morgan at bat, her base on balls sent
Rachel Potvin home for the lone run of the game.
Rachel Hayden completed the game for the Cardinals, shutting out the Miners improving her record to 14-7 on the season.
In game two, the Cards were able to edge out the Miners 3-2.
In the third inning
Ashley Barrett scored from Hayden's ground out to short stop. Both
Faith Song and Hayden scored in the sixth inning; Hayden was brought in by Song's double and Song scored on a wild pitch.
Corrine Frei took the win and now has a record of 2-3 on the season.
The Cardinals have an over all record of 25-21 and 22-15 in the GLVC.
