Box Score 2 The William Jewell Cardinal softball team improved its record to 15-15 overall and 10-8 in the GLVC with a sweep over the Quincy University Hawks today at William Jewell.
The first game of the double header the Cardinals saw the Cardinals take the 4-3 win.
Jewell scored all four of thier runs in the third inning.
Rachel Potvin was sent home by a single from
Kelsey Morgan, and a home run from
Brittany Madsen scored
Kelsey Morgan and
Faith Song. The Hawks scored two runs in the fourth and its final run in the sixth.
Rachel Hayden was the winning pitcher, improving to 8-4 on the season.
The second game the Cardinals defeated the Hawks by a score of 7-6 in extra innings. .
The Hawks scored two runs in the third inning on one hit and one error. Jewell answered with six runs of their own in the fourth thanks to back to back home runs from Morgan and Madsen along with a double by Hayden that scored Potvin, Ashley Barret and Erin Creamer. The Hawks tied up the score with four runs in the seventh. In the bottom of the eighth the Cardinals claimed victory with a double by Barrett that brought
Kelsey Teneycke home.
Faith Song was the winning pitcher and improved her record to 6-8.
The Cardinals will match up against Truman State University tomorrow at 12:00 and 2:00 for another conference double header. Sophomore Daiven Ruddock will throw the first pitch for 'Hero Day'.
