Box Score 2 The William Jewell Cardinals softball team split a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader on Sunday with Truman State University falling 8-1 in game one and taking the nightcap 5-3.
In game one of the two game double header, the Cardinals had a difficult time getting their bats going during the seven inning game scoring only one run in the seventh. A double by Kelsey Mogan sent
Rachel Potvin home for the lone run. On the game the Cardinals had four hits and one error.
Faith Song (5-9) took the loss on the mound, tossing five innings giving up six hits, six runs (four earned) and three walks while striking out five.
Jewell took game two of the series 5-3. Faith song had a three-run home run in the first, scoring
Rachel Hayden and Ashley Barrett. In the fifth inning Song drilled another home run, this time a solo shot, followed by a solo shot off the bat of
Kelsey Teneycke. The Cardinals five runs were scored on seven hits and no errors.
Rachel Hayden pitched a completed game to improve to 9-4 on the season.
