Cardinal Softball Season Comes to End vs. Indianapolis

Box Score
William Jewell's journey through the elimination bracket at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Championships came to an end Saturday with an 8-0 loss in six innings to the University of Indianapolis.

Jewell ends their season at 29-23 with virtually no chance of being selected as an NCAA regional qualifier.

Indianapolis limited the Cardinals to just one hit, an infield single by Rachel Potvin in the fourth inning.  Jewell starting pitcher Faith Song had a 1-2-3 inning in the first, but was only able to go a total of 2.2 innings in allowing six runs on eight hits in taking the loss (11-12).  Corinne Frei pitched the last 2.1 innings, giving up the last two runs on four hits, striking out two.  The Cardinals committed two errors in the contest.

The 2-2 showing at the Championships was good for fourth place in the eight-team field, and ends a year in which the Cardinals finished third in the GLVC West and were the #4 seed in the tournament.
